REGULAR MEETING OF THE CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP BOARD

April 2, 2018

Supervisor Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

Present: Rob Smith, Fran Ash, Michelle Quakenbush, Gail Huber.

Absent: Jan Gill

PREVIOUS MINUTES

Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Ash, to the approve minutes of March 5 2018.
Motion carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Motion by Ash, supported by Quakenbush, to approve the treasurer’s report of April 2, CD balance of $557,186.46 and overall balance of $2,185,284.77. 
Roll call vote—Yes: Smith, Huber, Quakenbush, Ash; No: none.
Motion unanimously carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Public comment was held.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

VALLEY RD
ZA Bebee stated he will have plans ready a couple weeks before the next board meeting and then will have a public meeting..

NEW BUSINESS

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR TIM BEBEE

ZA Bebee gave his report.

CLERK COMPUTER

Clerk Ash had to purchase a new computer because her computer crashed. She already replaced it from Little Town Computers for $629.00.
Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, for the computer replacement at a cost of $629.00.
Roll call vote—Yes: Smith, Quakenbush, Huber, Ash; No: none.
Motion unanimously carried.

CEMETERY AND SNOWPLOWING CONTRACTS

There have been interested parties who want to bid on the cemetery and snowplowing contracts.  Clerk Ash stated she is against putting the cemetery sexton contract out for bid.  Grave openings are too important to have just anyone doing it.
Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, to publish to take bids for the snowplowing of the township hall, firehall and cemeteries.
Motion unanimously carried. 

Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, to publish to take bids for the cemetery sexton/mowing/maintenance contract. 
Yes: Smith, Huber, Quakenbush; No: Ash.
Motion carried.

PAY THE BILLS

Motion by Huber, supported by Quakenbush, to pay the bills.
Roll call vote—Yes: Smith, Huber, Quakenbush, Ash; No: none.
Motion unanimously carried.

OTHER

Quakenbush stated the State is making it mandatory for the fire department to use certain facemasks and head harnesses at a cost of $160,932.64 with an interest rate of 4.51%. She will check regarding Chippewa Township paying our share up front so the township wouldn’t be paying any interest.
