REGULAR MEETING OF THE CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP BOARD

December 3, 2018

Supervisor Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

Present: Rob Smith, Michelle Quakenbush, Gail Huber, Fran Ash, Jan Gill.

PREVIOUS MINUTES

Motion by Gill, supported by Huber, to approve minutes of November 5, 2018 with the correction: The addendum is for the fiscal years of 2018-19 to 20192029-30.
Motion carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Motion by Ash, supported by Huber, to approve the treasurer’s report of Dec 3, 2018 balance of $1,616,505.28 and overall balance of $2,176,102.27.
Roll call vote—Yes: Smith, Huber, Ash, Quakenbush, Gill; No: None.
Motion unanimously carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

NUISANCE PARTY ORDINANCE
The nuisance party ordinance is still being reviewed by the Planning Commission.

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR TIM BEBEE
ZA Bebee was absent.

2019 MEETING SCHEDULE
Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, to approve the 2019 meeting schedule.
Motion carried.

COMMISSION TERMS
Motion by Ash, supported by Quakenbush, to re-appoint Rod Reid and Robert Wetherbee to three-year terms on the Planning Commission.
Roll call vote—Yes: Ash. Quakenbush, Huber, Smith, Gill; No: None.
Motion unanimously carried.

Motion by Ash, supported by Huber, to re-appoint Brian Smith to a two-year term and Gayla Burch, alternate, to a one-year term on the ZBA.
Roll call vote—Yes: Ash, Smith, Quakenbush, Gill, Huber; No: None.
Motion unanimously carried.

Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, to re-appoint Robert Ervin and Linda Reid to two-year terms on the Board of Review.

Motion by Ash, supported by Huber, to retain Monica Richer on the Planning Commission as a non-resident for the remainder of her term which expires on 01/01/21.

PAY THE BILLS

Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Gill, to pay the bills.

OTHER

FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET

Motion by Ash, supported by Quakenbush, to pay $65,675.25 for Chippewa Township’s share of the Shepherd Tri-Township Fire department budget.
Roll call vote—Yes: Smith, Quakenbush, Gill, Huber, Ash; No: None.
Motion unanimously carried.

Treasurer Gill stated she checked on the cost of the flashing red solar signals which are installed on the top of stop signs. They cost around $3000.00. The intersections of River Rd and Shepherd Rd, River Rd and Loomis Rd. and River Rd and Chippewa Rd are very busy intersections and would benefit from the red flashing solar signals. The road commission has not returned her call. Supervisor Smith will contact them regarding costs.
