REGULAR MEETING OF THE CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP BOARD

July 5, 2017

Supervisor Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

Present: Rob Smith, Fran Ash, Michelle Quakenbush, Gail Huber
Absent: Jan Gill

PREVIOUS MINUTES

Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, to approve minutes of June 5, 2017.
Motion carried. 

TREASURER'S REPORT

Motion by Ash, supported by Huber, to approve the treasurer’s report of July 5, balance of $1,721,050.72 and overall balance of $2,275,135.26.
Roll call vote—Yes: Ash, Smith, Quakenbush, Huber; No: None
Motion unanimously carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Several residents spoke regarding the noise from the shooting from Black Creek. They are shooting rapid fire guns seven days a week late into the night. People have called the police but they won’t do anything. ZA Bebee suggested people write letters which can be left in the drop box in front of the township hall. He will consult with the township attorney regarding what can be done.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

VALLEY RD
ZA Bebee has a consultation scheduled with the township attorney on July 11th.

BROADWAY RENTAL
ZA Bebee stated that the issue has resolved itself. The property has been sold to the Tribe.

NEW BUSINESS

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR TIM BEBEE
ZA Bebee gave his report.

RESOLUTION FOR VOTING EQUIPMENT
Clerk Ash stated the State of Michigan is purchasing new voting tabulators. The township needs to adopt a resolution giving the clerk the authority to submit a grant application.
Motion by Huber, supported by Quakenbush, to adopt a Chippewa Township board resolution to give the clerk the authority to submit the grant application on behalf of Chippewa Township for new voting equipment which will be provided by the state.

Motion unanimously carred.

PAY THE BILLS

Motion by Huber, supported by Quakenbush, to pay the bills.
Roll call vote—Yes: Ash, Quakenbush, Smith, Huber; No: None
Motion unanimously approved.

OTHER

Supervisor Smith stated that due to the flooding Camelot Lake paid Mak Enterprises $338.00 to have a culvert dug out.
Motion by Quakenbush, supported by Huber, to reimburse Camelot Lake Association $338.00 for having the culvert dug out.

Motion unanimously carried.
