Household Hazardous Waste/Clean Sweep Collection 2016

Collection will take place at Isabella County Fair Grounds, 500 N Mission, Mt Pleasant.
Through the Clean Sweep Collection, all pesticides and mercury can be recycled. Clean Sweep is free and open to all persons in the State of Michigan.
- Pesticides include fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, etc.--all the classes of the "cides."
- Mercury can be found in thermometers, electrical switches, thermostats (round, non-programmable), batteries, fluorescent lights (CFLs), and in some children's toys.
Household hazardous waste items to be collected are listed below. This program is free and open to every resident in Isabella County.
- Acceptable household hazardous waste items are automotive products, aerosals, cleaners, acids and bases, photography chemicals, swimming pool/hot tub chemicals, beauty aids, adhesives, fuels, batteries, and paint products.
- Latex paint is not toxic and will not be taken. Latex paint can be allowed to dry out (remove the lid; add sand or kitty litter) before throwing away with regular household trash.
No electronic waste will be allowed. Recycle these items at Habitat for Humanity ReStore (201 E Pickard St, Mt Pleasant). They will not take refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, items containing Freon, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. For more information on electronic waste call 989-773-0043.
The Isabella Conservation District Office received funding from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for the Household Hazardous Waste collection. The Clean Sweep collection is funded by the Michigan Department of Agriculture.

Tire recycling will be held Saturday, May 21, and Saturday, September 10. All collections are from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the fairgrounds. See the separate notice for more details.
