REGULAR MEETING OF THE CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP BOARD
July 2, 2012
A. Supervisor Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
B. Present: Rob Smith, Fran Ash, Jan Gill, Michelle Quakenbush, Clair Lapham
C. Motion by Quakenbush supported by Lapham to approve minutes of June 4, 2012.
D. Motion by Ash supported by Quakenbush to approve the Treasurerâ€™s report of June 4, balance of $2,051,228.16 and overall balance of $2,644,432.25
Roll call vote yes: Quakenbush, Lapham, Smith, Gill, Ash No: None
Motion unanimously carried.
E. PUBLIC COMMENT
Captain Jon Kujat from Tri-Twp Fire Dept. Station #2 introduced several of the fireman. He came to discuss some of the bad blood between the township and the fire department.
Public comment was held.
F. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
COMPUTER NETWORK SUBCOMMITTEE
Township website is up and running but needs some tweaking.
Supervisor Smith stated Chief Don Brown investigated some of the concerns of of response times. Brown provided the board with the fire run reports regarding those response times and number of responses from the three departments. Smith will have no further update until he has another meeting with all the fire chiefs.
BLIGHT AND WIND TURBINE ORDINANCE
The Planning Commission will hear public comment at their July 9th meeting and the township board will vote on the blight and wind turbine ordinances at their next board meeting August 6th.
G. NEW BUSINESS
Zoning Administrator Bebeeâ€™s report will be filed with the township minutes.
Motion by Ash supported by Gill to pay two election inspector chairpersons $15.00 per hour and ten election inspectors $10.00 per hour for the August 7, 2012 primary.
Roll call vote yes: Smith, Gill, Ash, Quakenbush, Lapham. Motion unanimously carried.
PAY THE BILLS
Motion by Gill supported by Lapham to pay the bills. Roll call vote yes: Smith, Gill, Ash, Quakenbush, Lapham. Motion unanimously carried.
Smith stated the road work has been completed. He has attended a couple of meetings regarding MI Vote regarding casinos. Unknown individuals wants to change the constitution to allow more casinos but it's unknown who would own those casinos. He also thanked the firemen for a fast reponse time for a family member.
Motion by Quakenbush supported by Gill to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
