CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
May 12, 2025 Minutes
Call to Order 7:00 pm
Present: Bob Wetherbee, Sheila Salmon, Rod Reid (acting chair), Monica Richer, Brian Schantz.
Absent: Dave Clark, Susan Gates, ZA Bebee
Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes Approval of April 14, 2025 minutes. Motion made by Schantz, second by Salmon. All in favor. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
None.
Audience Participation:
Bob Nagy gave reasons as to why no more mining should be allowed in Chippewa Township.
Old Business:
Lengthy discussion on possible changes to be made to the proposed PUD ordinance. Secretary Richer will send these comments to ZA for him to review. Suggested changes:
- One question was one house on one acre.
- One question was what is the square footage of the units.
- Pg 1 #1 under A: the minimum size of a PUD site shall be 10 acres of contiguous land. Suggestion was mde 20 acres.
- Pg 3 #7: frontage and access--suggestion access roads where possible
- Pg 5 #3: have a fee schedule
- Pg 5 Viii: Sheila was unsure of this
- Pg 7: -i, ii, iii, iv: great idea
- Pg 8 f, second paragraph last sentence: perhaps this should be approved before anything else
Wetherbee gave an update of the Township Board meeting. They are waiting for a response on the 2% tribal request.
New Business:
The Senate may approve the township's ability to approve wind and solar. Townships need to have ordinances ready.

Motion by Wetherbee, second by Schantz, to adjourn. All in favor. Motion carried.
