Online Property Tax Payments

(New late September 2025)

New in late September 2025 is being able to pay your property taxes online. The township has entered into an agreement with BS&A software to provide online property tax payments via Stripe. There will be a service fee that goes to the third party, not the township. You may pay by phone (the special phone number is below) or online using a card, including Apple or Google Pay, or by debiting your bank account. Payments may NOT be made by card in-person at the office--only cash, checks, or money orders are accepted when paying in-person or by mail. Also, card payments are not accepted if one calls the treasurer's office at the hall.

  • To pay by phone, call 989-546-3737 and follow the prompts* (listed below).
  • The link to make an online payment is Home | Chippewa Township | BS&A Online. There is a brief FAQ at the bottom of the BS&A web page. BS&A provided a step-by-step guide to paying a bill at BSAO-P-Pay-a-Bill.pdf. Although the step-by-step guide uses a utility bill as the example, the steps are the same for paying taxes, which is the only option for Chippewa Township currently. BS&A has additional resources to assist in their learning center at BS&A Online - BS&A Software.

There are options to check out as a guest, login to your existing account, or to create an account, if you do not have one already. If you own more than one parcel, each will have to be paid separately. If no taxes are due, e.g., they have already been paid, the message "Taxes are not eligible for payment at this time" will be displayed when you try to review and pay your bill.

Taxes can still be paid in-person on the scheduled dates (see the messages in the lower right corner of your tax bill), by mail, or by using the drop box at the township hall.

  • In-person is best if you are paying by cash. Please have the correct amount or close to it. The township does not hold regular office hours daily or weekly.
  • If mailing your payment, please allow adequate time for the payment to reach the office on or before the due date. Experience has shown it takes at least 2 days from postmark to receiving it at the township hall by mail if it was mailed locally. It can often take a week, sometimes more, if mailed from out-of-state.
  • The drop box is locked and checked regularly. Checks or money orders are the recommended payment methods when using the drop box. The drop box is next to the building and behind the USPS mailbox.

If you have questions or need help, please email the treasurer.
