CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
September 11, 2023 Minutes
Call to Order 7:00 pm
Present: Bob Wetherbee, Matt Flegel, Dave Clark, Susan Gates (Chair), Monica Richer, Rod Reid, Brian Schantz, ZA Bebee.
Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes Approval of August 14, 2023; motion by Flegel, second by Schantz. All in favor. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
None, other than what is on tonight's agenda.
Old Business: ZA read an email from the Health Dept regarding the low Density Lake Residential change. They stated their commitment is to provide the location suitable, suitable with modifications, or non suitable.
Audience Participation:
Chair Gates opened Public Hearing.
Jason Pyles, 11523 N Lakeside Trail, Shepherd, MI, provided a handout to the board with modifications to lot sizes on the property in question.
Charlotte Magelski, 11561 LakeSide Trail, Shepherd, MI, cited a website called Fetch to dispute acreage size.
No further comments.
Public Hearing closed. No discussion by board.
Motion made by Schantz, second by Gates, to change Chippewa Township Low Density Lake Residential zoning classification from 5 acres to 1 acre.
Roll call vote: Wetherbee no, Flegel no, Clark no, Gates no, Richer no, Reid no, Schantz no.
New Business:
Benjamin Herric, representing Verizon Wireless, explained the site plan for a new tower at 550 S Loomis Rd. The tower height is 197 ft. This project will need a variance and have to be presented to the ZBA. ZA would like board members to review the packet and return any comments to him to compile for the ZBA.
Nothing back from the lawyer regarding the review of our solar ordinance.
